Looking at an old exam style task based around motorcycling, this presentation includes lots of images and peer assessment to ensure that boys are engaged and to ensure that they are meeting success criteria when writing letters.

This presentation goes through possible scenarios/descriptive writing tasks and gets students to think about taking ownership over their writing and making it as creative as possible. This is all done through image stimuli. The first few slides asks students to assess strengths and weaknesses on another student response, to use these slides you will also need to copy your own student response.

A handy revision resource that goes through some quick common errors that students make in exams. This is beneficial to most subjects, especially the ones that pick up the extra marks for spelling, punctuation and grammar (SPaG) in the final exams.

As the title suggests, I used this resource to look at the Narrator's opening lines to the play. I asked learners to look at imagery and connotations to analyse the effect of the writer's use of language.

This resource includes group work questions that focus on the females within the novella: Belle and Fan. The resource also includes an extension task, which involves an empathetic response based on the questions just answered

8 different table mats that follow the Kagan structure These are bright and colourful and they can be laminated and stuck down on desks Each one has a character in the middle from a novel or play

This is a nice little resource to use that will get students using their inference skills. The students have to match the small section of the text to the relevant illustration. This works well for students cutting them out and sticking them onto A3.

A colour coded resource with a checklist on to help students with approaching poetry. There is also a colour coded essay framework, which helps students to construct a response to 2 poems read, at the same time as comparing them. This resource has worked great with my middle ability and lower ability classes. An excellent revision resource too.

A fully resourced scheme of work with the theme of 'The Supernatural' The scheme is aimed at KS3 and teaches the skills of letter writing to argue The scheme is extremely engaging and there's lots of interesting materials It has been created to support the changes in the National Curriculum It's an eight week scheme with a PowerPoint for every lesson There's also a keen focus on progress and lots of AFL in there too

This full SOW can be completed alongside any novel at all. It is an 8 week scheme that eventually leads to an empathy style task, which can then be marked for reading and writing It begins with a Summer Transition Project - The transition sheets will need printing on A3 and then taken out to the pyramid/feeder primaries It comes with a full mark scheme too
